Each of the characters and of the places that have contributed to tell Casimiro's history has left a trace, little or big, stressed or more discreet in the tale, mixing her history to that of the protagonist of the biography. In the end making true John Donne's sentence, put by Hemingway on the door of one of the books of my adolescence:
"No man is an Island, entire of itself. (.) Therefore,
send not to know for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee".

Sasso Cavallo: A piece of nature, that with time changed into culture. A totem with his people (not necessarily the ones born at his feet but the ones that have been attracted for mysterious reasons), its priests, its singers, the elite (the prince, the knights...), the fairs and, above all, the only one that acquired the permit to relation himself in an intimate and secret way with the rocky obelisk, the Great Wizard, Det Alippi. A limestone monument, good to make legends and to feed myths. To make thinking fly, entwist reflections and give long sights and deep thoughts to its followers.

The cycle, adapted on the main Dolomites peaks, is an enquiry about the connection between man-death-mountain. The alpinists that appear, generally by themselves, lived with that mountain some extremely meaningful moments of their existence.
All these histories are inspired to Dino Buzzati's obituaries published on the "Corriere della Sera" newspaper, dedicated to these men, but above all to his magic relationship to the mountains.
