June 2015 - Lecco
Four local artists, Marco Menaballi, Luisa Rota Sperti, Raouf Gharbia, Nicola Villa, have worked on the conservation theme, by painting four new fridges, sponsored by Smeg company, world leader in this sector.
Luisa, at the beginning, wanted to involve also Lecco's hospital psychiatric ward, where she had been working for years with the patients by accompany them into art paths, but, having received a no as an answer from the head direction, she decided to work personally on a fridge in memory of the recent earthquake in Nepal.
Luisa has drawn upon the Smeg fridge - Nanda-Devi - with temples, mountains, prays and 108 faces of Nepali women, men and children , presented in the Sala Ticozzi (Lecco) and exhibited in Galleria Roma, Via Roma 42 (Lecco)
The fridges painted by the artists have been shown in some windows in the center of Lecco and then auctioned. Each artist chose a charity project. Luisa Rota Sperti has chosen Nepal for her painting, inspired, as she says, "to the sweet people of Nepal", which she visited in 1972 and that are always in her heart; deeply stricken by the tragedy of this populations, she hasn't any doubts by choosing the charity project “Cargo for Nepal”.
